Did you know that you have the perfect house for money saving solar panels?

That’s because the perfect house for solar is the house you are living in. Panels anywhere else wont save you any money. So our headline statement is literally 100% correct. Some homes however, are more perfect than others…

We frequently hear from customers on the doorsteps, the vaguely amusing phrase, “oh, but my house is facing the wrong way for solar”, or,  (and this is often the most confounding statement of all, especially when the respective customer is living in a fantastic house for solar -sometimes even perfect) “I’ve been told I cant have solar panels, because my house isn’t suitable” -and it turns out they were actually told this by a representative from a Solar PV installation company.

To a genuine expert, someone who was designing and managing Solar PV installations long before the influx to the market of companies who were very much less than expert -despite what they’d write on their vans, ´Solar Specialists since 1963´, or whatever- the advice many people have been given by companies claiming to be specialists, simply beggars belief.  Setting aside the customers living houses with roofs facing bang on south at a 30 degree inclination -I honestly cant even guess at why these people get told their house is unsuitable…it can only be incompetency though, there’s no other logical explanation- many customers whose roofs slope east-west have been told this also. Whilst this isn´t quite as mystifying as it is with customers whose homes would be generating close to the theoretical maximum for a system in their area, it is nevertheless completely wrong. We get this all the time from people living in east-west houses though, so for everyone reading, here is the truth…

If you are facing east-west, you can still expect to generate 80-85% of the solar electricity that the same system would facing southwards. That’s means that a 5Kwp system you will generate roughly 4200 kwh p/a instead of 5000kwh p/a, (according to conservative Standard Assessment Procedure calculations; other methodologies, as well the performance of actual systems installed by Ecotekk, usually exceed this). Assuming you have a battery and are able use all those hours yourself, that could mean you´d save around £1250 per year, rather than £1500 (again using very conservative SAP numbers). Over 20 years, you could save over £50,000 (depending on how much energy from the grid costs over that time), or you could miss out on all that easy money, because your neighbour a few doors down lived in a south facing house and saved a couple of hundred quid a year more.

Looked at another way, for a few hundred pounds more on the installation costs, you could buy a system which incorporated 2 extra panels than you otherwise would have needed, if hypothetically speaking your house faced the other way, and therefore save as much money as the guy across the street facing south saves, forever after.

Seen that way, it obviously seems incredibly silly to miss out on such incredible benefits.

If you did cqll out a solar PV installation company 15 years ago though, and they incorrectly advised you that your house wasn’t suitable, when it absolutely was, its safe to say that you probably dodged a bullet in not ordering from them. We often install retrofitted battery system and whole system upgrades, after other companies installed the initial solar system. We routinely see shocking stuff – estimated generation figures which could never be correct; shading assumptions so bad they must be dishonest; unnecessary use of voltage optimisers; lack of use when optimisers were appropriate; arrays split east/west  when 1 side was clearly more beneficial and a more economic install; panels installed one side of roof when they’d generate circa 20% more power simply at the other end, away from a chimney, or whatever; etc, etc, etc- so if you had a company out and they were so incompetent as to advise you that way, well you almost certainly saved thousands of pounds that you´d have likelly squandered on a rubbish solar PV installation, from a rubbish solar panel installer, that would never have performed as it was sold to you and would likely have failed in next to no time and the firm that put them in for you nowhere to be found.

You could have saved 50 grand by now though if your solar PV installation had been done by a firm with much better pedigree, like Ecotekk. All our customers never fail to generate, at a minimum, what we estimate their system to produce, and what we estimate their system to produce is always more than worth their while doing; most systems in practice exceed the modelling we undertake. We’ve got customers who swear by us and who wouldn’t even entertain speaking to any other solar PV installers -people who’ve bought multiples systems from us, going back as far as 2010, and have made tens of thousands of pounds as a result.

The biggest take away from all of this though, is no matter what you’ve been told in the past by other Solar PV installers, disregard it, and come and speak to us, Ecotekk, the real experts in solar PV, solar hot water, and battery storage.

The perfect house for solar is the house that you are living in, and we can design you a bespoke solar PV system to perfectly match your unique customer requirements. Just remember that your house is not unsuitable for Solar PV, until Ecotekk says it isn’t. We can help you to make yourself better off, insure yourself against future electricity price rises,  and add value to your home, all whilst doing a good thing.

Just remember:North, South,  East or West, Ecotekk is best. Call us now to see how much better off we can make you.
