It came to my attention last week that some images were missing from the website, so I messaged out IT girl to let her know. She tells me the following day that we’d had some sort of malware attack and that the images had been permanently removed, and would have to be re-uploaded. When I got around to actually doing so, I realised that it was much worse then that -most of the entire history of news, blog posts, etc, all seem to have vanished, and its likely that there wont be back up copies for a great deal of it.
Not to despair though. Photos of beautiful Solar PV installations, we got tons of, and regarding all the written content, well I haven’t written consistently enough, despite all my good intentions, and so this is just the perfect opportunity to re-commit to producing at least one blog post every single day, or at least work day, or, failing that, at least once a week, if thats possible.
We obviously take all the normal precautions vis-a.-vis cybersecurity. And tbh, I was never particularly concerned about it, because we dont keep any sensitive data on the site -nothing about customers whatsoever, nothing financial, etc. Its difficult even to imagine why anyone who want to steal my musings on running a solar panel installation company or pictures of us fitting solar panels in Swansea, Neath, or wherever else in South Wales we’d been working.
Of course, having content stolen is nothing new to us, just never before in this manner. In fact previously what we experienced a great deal of would be better described as plagiarism, copyright theft at a push. I can´t count how many times have I seen solar panel installations done by us, featuring on the cover of some other companies leaflet; our illustrations on the websites turn up all over the internet, and no doubt may people copy our text verbatim also, as hardly anyone else out there produces original written content about these sorts of things.
There’s always two sides to every occurrence. On the face of it, this is a frustrating and annoying experience resulting in a ton of unnecessary and rather tedious work, finding -wherever possible- and recreating and re-uploading anything else we felt important enough to do all over again; and then there’s the less obvious side, which can be a bit more difficult to grasp, but once you are reconciled to it is much more significant.
So we’re choosing to see this as a positive. Website security will be reviewed anywhere necessary, changes will be made. Regarding all the missing content -whats still available well re-upload, what we think we can do again better, we’ll do just that, as well as to keep on producing quality content to enlighten the public with real expert opinion in an online space thats sadly way overcrowded with poor information, garbage companies and terrible solar panel installation advice.
This will be a fresh start for committed writing. Heat-wave -over. World Cup -finally over; Wimbledon concluded nearly a month ago, so at least there’s relatively few distractions from writing my very own Diary of a C.E.O, documenting Ecotekks solar panel installations and offering high value Solar PV system design advice for any one seeking the truth in these matters. And one thing for sure, it will be an awfully long time before I run out of stories to tell, or things to say, about of Solar PV products,, solar panel installations, or anything else pertains to fitting Solar panels.
For everything a reason. The front end of the website had been slightly neglected over the summer months; in this weather I´d have mostly preferred to be out with the canvassers rather than be sat in the office -as far as was possible- and in the evenings, it was nicer to be outside in the garden than being indoors doing the vaguely important -but scarcely urgent- task of producing content for the website -important, because solar is so competitive these days, and its through telling our stories that people get to see that we really are superior to all other Solar PV installers. Of course other companies wclaim that sort of thing all the time, entirely without foundation, but our far greater knowledge and experience of fitting solar panels, relative to those that imitate us, should be obvious to anyone who reads what we put out. The more people know Ecotekk, the better they trust us So it is of tremendous importance that we continue to put out a steady stream of communications.
This represents a clean slate. A perfect opportunity to re-affirm my commitment to posting much more regular blog posts, news updates, and photos of some of the gorgeous solar panel installations that we’ve been working on.
From now on we will be posting week, if not every day, and certainly not let months go by without any public communications. Or at least we’ll see how it long it all lasts. Ha!
